BRIDGE
BUILD
BECOME
the B3 vision: serving as a Bridge, that builds individuals from the inside out, to become the most optimal version of themselves.
About Hope Mathole
I am a communicator, conversation starter, safe space creator, leader, voice, game-changer, bridge-builder, mentor, keynote speaker and published author. A charismatic and energetic individual, with a delightful sense of humor. I am a Counselling Psychologist who entered the field of psychology because of my passion for collaborative and holistic wellbeing. I believe that my role as a psychologist is to be a collaborator, who believes in the client’s innate ability to evolve into the highest and most optimal version of themselves. I would like to see my clients heal, gain insight, develop appropriate coping mechanisms for the present and develop an optimistic outlook on their future.
In addition to my practice. I exist in the academia space; as a lecturer and clinical supervisor. I have over three years of experience, as a resident psychologist in a Cerebrovascular Accident (stroke) ward, at a physical rehabilitation hospital. This role ignited a deep passion for supporting individuals affected by strokes, physical trauma, and their loved ones. I have previously worked within a primary school, correctional services and university context. Moreover I have been extensively trained in psychological crisis interventions.
These diverse areas of engagement reflect my commitment to creating accessible, impactful, transformative and inclusive spaces. Whether in a therapeutic room, a lecture hall, or from a stage.
Approach to Psychotherapy
I have been trained in a wide range of psychotherapeutic modalities and therefore adopt an integrative approach, tailoring treatment to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. While my practice is flexibl; I often lean toward a top-down approach, grounded in the belief that our thoughts influence our emotions and, ultimately, our behaviours. An understanding central to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I also draw from Narrative Therapy, which views our lives as evolving stories that we have the capacity to re-story & reframe. Additionally, I integrate principles of Interactive Pattern Analysis (IPA), recognising that human beings are inherently relational and shaped by the systems and relationships in which they exist.
These modalities are always applied through a person-centered stance, ensuring that the therapeutic relationship remains collaborative, empathetic, and respectful of each individual’s lived experience.
